“Money before bitches,” Kat says in a voice between solidarity and indignation. It’s one of those nights at the club. Rare, but there: drama between girls. She’s been here years, she knows the ropes; that bit of advice has stuck with me. No girl is worth your job. Drama can be worked out, misunderstandings reconstructed, drunk words excused. Getting fired and then rehired? Trickier. And even at some clubs where fire-rehire is par for the course, making up on lost money can be harder. So this saying helps me keep my head up and my thoughts level, my priorities in order, when coworkers become handfuls.
