“You can make money off a wink,” she says to me, curls bouncing. This is one of my first memories from my first club, down in Florida. Her name’s Colleen, or that’s the name that’s good enough for me. The message is a good one, girls: personalize your act. Do something uniquely you. The wink is a metaphor: will other girls wink? yes; the point is do something that brings the ‘you’ out of you and makes you memorable. If that’s a costume, a gesture, a trick, a look… own it.
